Frequently asked questions

FAQs | Booking & Availability

For weddings, I recommend booking at least 6-12 months in advance to secure your date and allow time to perfect the details. You can book up to 18 months in advance for weddings and large events. Dates fill quickly, especially during peak wedding season, so I recommend booking as early as possible.

For birthdays and other celebrations, a minimum of 4–8 weeks’ notice is preferred, depending on the complexity and size of your order. Last-minute orders may be considered if my schedule allows, but I can’t guarantee availability.

For last minute cakes, although most dates book out well in advance, I occasionally have space for last-minute orders, it’s always worth asking! I do my best to accommodate when I can.

Start by submitting an enquiry through my website via the general enquiries or weddings contact form — even if you’re not sure on the final design yet. I’ll get back to you with an estimated quote based on your event details. If you’re happy, a deposit secures your date. From there, we can fine-tune the design, flavours, and all the little details together as your event approaches. Booking early means you won’t miss out, and there’s always time to make changes before everything is finalised.

After the deposit is received, I’ll work with you to finalise your cake design, flavours, and all event logistics. For weddings, I coordinate with your venue and vendors to ensure seamless delivery and setup. We’ll keep in touch throughout the process, and you’ll have plenty of opportunities to make changes or ask questions before everything is finalised.

Absolutely! You can make changes to your design, flavours, or details after booking—many couples finalise flavours or small details closer to their event. I recommend having most decisions made at least four weeks before your date, especially for larger changes, but I’ll always do my best to accommodate last-minute tweaks whenever possible. Just keep in touch and we’ll work together to make sure everything is perfect.

Deposits are non-refundable but may be held for a future booking. Refunds for cancellations are based on the timing and expenses incurred, as detailed in my Terms & Conditions.

If you need to postpone, let me know as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to accommodate your new date if I’m available.

FAQs | Design, flavours & customisation

Absolutely! Once you enquire and your client portal is set up, you’ll have access to my full list of cake flavours and fillings. If you have a flavour in mind that’s not listed, let me know—I'm always happy to discuss new ideas.

For shapes, I have tins available for round, square, heart and bell shapes - limited sizes are available for the heart and bell, sizes outside of what I have will be hand cut, customised to your request.

For round cakes, I have tin sizes from a 4" to a 16" (note: 11" is not available).  For square cakes, I have tins from a 5" to a 14" (note: some sizes in between are not available but can be custom cut to size).  For heart cakes, I have a small 6" and a medium 8" tin size available, outside of these, the cake will be custom cut to size (for example, the 18" vintage style heart cake in my portfolio).

In terms of height, a single tier is 2 layers of cake, an extended tier is 3 layers of cake, a tall tier or double barrel is 4 layers of cake, an extended tall tier is 5 layers of cake. Please note, not all sizes are available in all heights - the stability of the cake based on the width to height ratio is factored in when generating quotes.

For shapes and sizes outside of the above, if it's achievable, then a quote will be provide. In the event it's not possible due to equipment and resource restrictions, I will offer what I can to best achieve your vision. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns. My contact details are available through your client portal.

Serving sizes are based on either “coffee” (1” x 1” slices, perfect for after-dinner or as part of a dessert bar) or “dessert” (1” x 2” slices, ideal if the cake is the main dessert). Most wedding venues and caterers are familiar with these serving sizes and will cut the cake accordingly. When deciding how much cake you need, consider:

  • Whether your cake is the main dessert or just a sweet treat alongside other options.
  • The number of guests you want to serve (not everyone may want cake, especially if there are other desserts).
  • The style of your event—formal dinners usually opt for dessert serves, while cocktail or afternoon teas often go with coffee serves.
  • If you’d like to save the top tier for your anniversary or another celebration.

I’m always happy to help you choose the right size and tier combination for your guest count and event style. If you’re not sure, just ask—I can provide serving guides and suggestions to make sure everyone enjoys a slice (or two!).

Yes! I love seeing your inspiration. While I don’t copy other designers’ work exactly, I’ll use your images as a starting point and create something unique in my style.

Yes! I offer cupcakes, macarons, brownies, tarts, doughnuts, cookies, and more. Some items have minimum order quantities, and pricing varies depending on what you’d like. Just let me know what you’re interested in and I’ll put together a custom quote.

Yes! I create tasting boxes a few times a year, each featuring a selection of popular and bespoke flavours for you to mix and match at home. Because I make these in small, seasonal batches, they’re only available on certain dates throughout the year. I announce upcoming tasting box releases on my website and social media—so if you’d love to try one, keep an eye out or let me know and I’ll make sure you’re notified for the next round.

I offer gluten-friendly, dairy-free, and vegan cakes, but please note my kitchen handles all common allergens. While I take every precaution, I can’t guarantee any cake is completely allergen-free. Let me know your requirements and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

FAQs | pricing, policies & general

As every order is custom designed, and with the range I offer, I don't offer a price list available. Some of my popular designs have a set price, but generally, the price is based on number of serves (or the size requested), the intricacy of the design, and expense of the garnishes.

To assist with budgeting, cakes are usually around $8-12 per serve, then occasionally, the delivery is at an additional fee depending on how far I will be travelling. For my local venues, I have a base set fee, outside of this is a cents per km travelled to the venue rate.

Some considerations for the wedding cake that are factored into the price include:

  • The size of the cake - this can be based on the aesthetics (example, large fruit covered or tiramisu design) or how many serves it is for (example, 50 guests, 200 guests, etc)
  • How many tiers the cake will have - this is important for the structural components required for the cake.
  • The coverage - some ideas of this include what medium is used (eg: buttercream, fondant, ganache, etc) and how much will be required to cover the cake (eg: semi-naked, full coverage, vintage piped detailing, etc)
  • The garnishes and design - this can include florals, fruit, cake toppers, ribbons/bows, etc (note, these are priced based on cost to purchase, and time to prepare them for the cake)
  • The delivery - this is calculated by a base rate plus cents per km travelled to the venue.

Yes, I love to photograph my cakes and often share them on my website and social media. If you have any concerns about privacy, just let me know when you book.

I aim to reply within 4 business days, but during busy seasons there may be a delay. If you haven’t heard from me after a week, please check your spam folder or send me a message on Instagram or Facebook to confirm I received your enquiry.

Please check your spam/junk folder, make sure your email address was correct, and if still no luck, message me on social media. Sometimes website forms or email addresses have hiccups, but I always want to make sure I don’t miss your request.

If you can’t find your answer here, feel free to reach out via my contact form or social media—I’m always happy to help!
