Frequently Asked Questions

For weddings, a recommended 6 months notice is best to ensure we have plenty of time to work out the details, aiming for everything to be finalised and payment made by 4 weeks prior to your wedding. In saying this, I understand the "wedding fatigue" and stress of planning, so I'll always do what I can to accommodate your timeline.  


For other orders such as birthday cakes and baby shower cakes, depending on the scope (size, details, garnishes, etc) a minimum of 2-4 weeks notice is required. This allows ample time to order specialised items for your request. 


I do have a list of cake flavours and fillings to choose from. Once you've sent through an enquiry via the contact form, and your client portal is set up, the list is available in the questionnaires. If you have an idea in mind outside of this list, let me know and I can see what I can do to make it work.


For shapes, I have tins available for round, square, heart and bell shapes - limited sizes are available for the heart and bell, sizes outside of what I have will be hand cut, customised to your request. 


For round cakes, I have tin sizes from a 4" to a 16" (note: 11" is not available).  For square cakes, I have tins from a 5" to a 14" (note: some sizes in between are not available but can be custom cut to size).  For heart cakes, I have a small 6" and a medium 8" tin size available, outside of these, the cake will be custom cut to size (for example, the 18" vintage style heart cake in my portfolio). 


In terms of height, a single tier is 2 layers of cake, an extended tier is 3 layers of cake, a tall tier or double barrel is 4 layers of cake, an extended tall tier is 5 layers of cake. Please note, not all sizes are available in all heights - the stability of the cake based on the width to height ratio is factored in when generating quotes.


For shapes and sizes outside of the above, if it's achievable, then a quote will be provide. In the event it's not possible due to equipment and resource restrictions, I will offer what I can to best achieve your vision. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Yes, I can help with both of these. Let me know what items you're interested in having and I can price based on the products.  Some requests previously have been cupcakes, macarons, brownies, tarts, doughnuts, cookies, and various slices. Prices vary depending on the product, ranging from $3 to $10 each. Some items will be offered by the pack/a minimum order, such as a dozen or 20 items. Minimum order varies from product to product. 


As every order is custom designed, and with the range I offer, I don't offer a price list available. Some of my popular designs have a set price, but generally, the price is based on number of serves (or the size requested), the intricacy of the design, and expense of the garnishes. 


To assist with budgeting, cakes are usually around $8-12 per serve, then occasionally, the delivery is at an additional fee depending on how far I will be travelling. For my local venues, I have a base set fee, outside of this is a cents per km travelled to the venue rate.

Some considerations for the wedding cake that are factored into the price include:

  • The size of the cake - this can be based on the aesthetics (example, large fruit covered or tiramisu design) or how many serves it is for (example, 50 guests, 200 guests, etc)
  • How many tiers the cake will have - this is important for the structural components required for the cake.
  • The coverage - some ideas of this include what medium is used (eg: buttercream, fondant, ganache, etc) and how much will be required to cover the cake (eg: semi-naked, full coverage, vintage piped detailing, etc)
  • The garnishes and design - this can include florals, fruit, cake toppers, ribbons/bows, etc (note, these are priced based on cost to purchase, and time to prepare them for the cake) 
  • The delivery - this is calculated by a base rate plus cents per km travelled to the venue.


After submitting an enquiry and I have an idea of what you're after, I'll provide an estimated quote. If you're happy with this, we can organise the deposit which secures the date. From there, I work with you to fine tune the details, discuss pick up or delivery arrangements, and confirm the total. 


For weddings, I keep in touch with all vendors I've worked with over the years, this includes coordinators, planners, venues, caterers, florists, celebrants, suppliers, photographers, videographers, content creators and other specialised vendors - we support each other and work together to create your special day. I often reach out to other vendors when I have a booking coming up that I'll be working with them for. This is to ensure we can coordinate what will work best, and avoid any confusion along the way. 


I aim to response within 48hrs of receiving an enquiry, but my admin days are dependant on what orders I have for the week and my day job (yes, I work full time as well!) it may take up to 3 or 4 days.  


There's a few possible reasons:

1. my reply has gone to your junk or spam folder

2. my website form glitched and never sent through the enquiry to my emails 

3. the email address provided was typed incorrectly


In either case, please reach out to me on social media (Instagram or Facebook is preferred) and I can check if your enquiry arrived and if I have replied.
